Tree Surveys
Knowing what species of tree is growing on a property will assist in making the correct management decisions relating to the tree and the site. It will enable an identification of likely existing or future pests and diseases and for the correct strategy to be implemented to manage any risk that this might pose to the tree.
- Tree identification will also allow an assessment of value to be placed on a tree. The current tree valuation methods that are commonly used do place a monetary value on trees, but are designed as tools to aid in the strategic decision making process. They do have a role to play in helping assess the amenity value of a tree - i.e. what intangible benefits (value) does the tree bring the community in which it is located, and as such it is important to know what trees are on a site, and where they sit within that site. Only a tree survey will give this information.
- Tree Surveys are a key component in any risk management system as it is vital that a record is kept and maintained of the existing tree stock. This will not only enable long term tree management plans to be put in place, but is also a vital piece of the audit trail required for the tree risk management.
- On development sites, a survey of trees is key to understanding what trees are likely to be impacted by any proposed development. This tree assessment cannot take place without a survey, and although often incorporated as part of a topographical survey carried out by third party surveyors, it is important that this survey be confirmed any an arboriculturalist as to the identity of the trees on the site. Using proprietary software for use in CAD systems, we are able to present our tree survey reports with simple plans to identify the location of trees.
